Although within walking distance of the magnificent Sunshine Beach beachfront, the special feature of this house is actually its location immediately adjacent to Noosa National Park with an uninterrupted northern view across the rolling hills of this sanctuary and its many walking trails.
The neighbouring suburban buildings, however, didn’t have quite the same appeal as the park view so a decision was made to focus the living areas to the northern picturesque view, and conceal as far as possible from the neighbours.
This was achieved using a soaring trapezoidal roof that twists away from the street, and neighbours, to fly like an arrow towards the national park. Internally this line of view is further strengthened by an illuminated strip running the length of the ridge. Wire trellises, which will eventually be covered with greenery, were designed to run down the east and west sides of the house to protect from sun and oversight.
The floor plan is uncomplicated, with the main bedroom and open plan kitchen, dining, and living areas sharing the northern aspect, and guest bedrooms tucked behind. A study/ media room looks out to a courtyard to get its own share of northern sunlight.
